Educate Yoself

I must apologize for falling off the face of the blogosphere over the past six months. Business School? Heck, they should call it BUSY-ness School! (Bah-dum-ching.)

Thank you, thank you, I’m here all week. Tip your waiters.

One of the unfortunate side effects of having almost completed my first year of b-school is that I feel qualified to give advice to every potential applicant I meet. With the advantage of hindsight, the path from GMAT-taker to Admit Day-attendee looks clear and unobstructed. “Oh sure, that happened to me when I was applying. It’s perfectly normal,” I say to the applicant who looks as though she hasn’t slept properly in three months. “Just relax, things will work out.” I am the Application Guru, dispensing smiles, reassurance, and rainbows. It’s not an act…I literally cannot remember how awful it was. I’ve heard this sort of denial sometimes happens to PTSD sufferers. Hmm.

This is all to preface the unasked advice I’m about to dispense (said in Mr. T’s voice): EDUCATE YOSELF, FOOL!

In other words, find out as much as you can about the MBA application process BEFORE you start applying. By the time you are midway through the process, your brain takes on the color, shape and consistency of bread pudding, so better to start learning now while you don’t know any better. (Did I say that last part out loud?)

Hey, here’s a chance to do just that! is hosting a webinar this Thursday, March 27th called Get Accepted in 2015: 7 Steps to a Successful MBA Application. Here’s the deets:
